Check your battery
Lithium battery limits are set in watt-hours (Wh). If the label only shows volts and amp-hours, we'll work it out.
Rules on every airline
- Tell your airline at least 48 hours before you fly. Assistance at UK and EU airports is free for disabled passengers and people with reduced mobility.
- Airlines carry up to two mobility items free for each disabled passenger, subject to space and safety rules.
- Give the airline your chair's make, model, weight, size and battery details, and bring the manual.
- Removed lithium batteries travel in the cabin, with the terminals covered so they can't short-circuit.
- Airline compensation for damaged equipment is often capped at around £1,300, so consider extra insurance for an expensive chair.
- If your chair is damaged, the airport must lend you a temporary one, though it may not match yours.
Checked against each airline's own website on 8 November 2026. Airlines change their rules, so always confirm with the assistance team when you book. "Not stated" means we couldn't find it on the airline's website. Ask the airline.
